Adapting our skincare throughout the seasons should be as routine as the grand opening of our summer wardrobe. As we turn up the heat on our skin’s requirements, no longer will a heavy-duty, oil-rich skincare routine solve our primary concerns and nor will it sit underneath makeup without the inevitable ‘rolling and sliding’. So how do we maintain maximum hydration and anti-ageing performance during the summer months?
As we place our skin through ever increasing demands, Perricone MD lifts the lid on how to keep down the shine without compromising on delivering maximum hydration and antioxidants for a youthful, more radiant complexion.
STEP 1 – CLEANSE
Regular cleansing both morning and evening deeply purifies pollutants, sweat and debris allowing for rapid absorption of treatments, serums and moisturisers for longer-lasting hydration. For combination and oily skin types, we recommend a gently foaming cleanser to address oil imbalance, enlarged pores and excess shine – allowing for filter-free snaps!
STEP 2 – TREAT & NOURISH
Applying oil-free products allows for the continuation of a multi-layered routine optimizing the delivery of treatment based nutrition to combat specific concerns, such as Alpha Lipoic Acid for enlarged pores, DMAE for fine lines and wrinkles or Vitamin C Ester for pigmentation. Treatment serums such as the Cold Plasma offer the added bonus of a unique delivery system for even deeper absorption from your entire regimen. Applying oil-free or lightweight moisturisers act as an effective barrier against environmental aggressors which are dominating drivers for ageing skin.
STEP 3 – SPF & MAKEUP
Applying lightweight SPF formulations and skincare based makeup provides protection whilst allowing the skin to breath, minimizing enlarged pores and excess shine. Using a non-liquid powder foundation has the potential to look dry or become patchy during particularly hot spells.
STEP 4 – EXPECT THE UNEXPECTED
This is not to say that your current skincare products deserve to be confined to the depths of your cupboards. With the weather becoming increasingly temperamental, it’s worth keeping your spring collection ready in the wings in the result of any unexpected cold snaps… much like your emergency sweaters.
